The St. Kitts Nevis U-20 Men’s Team is in the Dominican Republic participating in the qualifying games of the CFU Men’s U-20.
This competition is the qualification tournament for the FIFA U-20 World Cup. St. Kitts and Nevis is fixtured in Group 4, which takes place in the Dominican Republic over the period June 13th to 20th 2016. The rest of the teams making up this Group are Dominica, Jamaica and host country Dominican Republic.
General Secretary Stanley Jacobs said the St. Kitts and Nevis Football Association was deeply appreciative of the airfare assistance provided by the St. Kitts and Nevis National Olympic Committee. The SKNNOC provides assistance for the development of sports through the facilitation of training, equipment and financial support.
“We have been assisting the Football Association for several years, ever since it became a member… The value of the assistance, the financial assistance is somewhere in the region of EC 50,000 dollars.”
According to SKNNOC President Bridgewater, the Under 20 is important, when considering that the Olympic football competitions are held at the under 23, so we do have an interest in them participating.”
Bridgewater further explained that apart from supporting the concept of building teams for the Olympics, or competitions, he indicated the NOC is also about helping organizations strengthen their administrative, coordinative capabilities and the skills needed too impart training.
