4G Cayon Rockets outplayed Superstars in weekend marquee match

In the featured game of SKNFA’s three-game Saturday night (28th January) Premier League match-ups, 4G Cayon Rockets stamped its authority over the RAMS Village Superstars in a 4 – 1 victory in a football match clearly dominated by the Rockets.

Both teams made their intent obvious from the start with both playing fast down the left and right flanks of the field. But it was the Cayon Rockets that started the opening salvo when Melroy Morton slammed the first goal into the back of the southern goal in just the 4th minute of play.

After a deft piece of mid-field passing Kimaree Rogers was able to equalize with a shot that escaped the goalkeepers reflexes. At 1 – 1, the stage seemed set for a competitive goal scoring game, but not before a self-scorning save by the Cayon goalkeeper.

A superstars player had just taken a corner kick from the northern end when a Rockets player blocked the ball, which flew off his boot toward the goal. A quick reflexive action by the goalkeeper saved disaster from occurring.

But it was Morton who scored Cayon’s second goal in the 32nd-minute that placed a lot of pressure on the Superstars.

At half time, the score was 2-1 in favor of 4G Cayon Rockets.

The second half started again with both teams playing positive football, but Superstars’ hope of equalizing were dashed when Carlos Bertie commanded a goal in the 60th minute of the game. Into extra time, Bertie again scored to conclude a game that was classically dominated by the 4G Cayon Rockets.

The RAMS Superstars showed moments of brilliance, but inconsistency in building their play was at fault.

Yellow Cards came into the light when the referee issued yellow cards to Auston Henry (Village) 46th minute, Kareem Galloway (Cayon) 46th minute, Carlos Bertie (Cayon) 52nd minute and Leroy Hanley (Village) in the 59th minute.

Officiating the marquee game were Graeme Browne, Ike Inniss, Jason Rouse and Nickolas Rose. The General Coordinator was Marcia Francis. Match Commissioner was Lawson Archibald and Referee Assessor was Malcolm Ramsey.
