Beach Soccer Coaches and Referees Course
As part of the continued development of football the St Kitts Nevis Football Association has brought a Beach Soccer Course which began on Wednesday 15th June to Sunday 19th June to the federation. The course will concentrate on the coaching and refereeing of the game and is being held at the St Kitts Marriott Resort.
The Course began with the usual Opening Ceremony and the General Secretary of the SKNFA Mr. Stanley Jacobs gave the opening remarks. Mr. Jacobs spoke to the participants about the importance of beach soccer to the federation, as we have the natural resources for the sport, our lovely beaches and our natural talent. He also spoke about the possibility of a World Cup Team.
Also in attendance was Dave Connor, Director of Sports who represented the Minister of Sports Mr. Glenn Phillip who could not make the ceremony. Mr. Connor commented on the benefits of the sport to the federation. He also commented on beach soccer being a possible sport for St Kitts and Nevis to have an Olympic team.
FIFA referee instructors Tim Weyland and Coach Instructor, Roberto Ceciliano thanked the SKNFA for bringing them to the federation to teach them this exciting game of Beach Soccer. They also gave words of encouragement to the participants and gave them a bit of what they should expect during the five days of the course.
Beach soccer began in Brazil in Rio de Janeiro. It has its own World Cup Competition.
