Browne Scores, but Sugar Girls Narrowly Beaten in Aruba
ORANJESTAD, Aruba — St. Kitts and Nevis opened their 2025/26 Concacaf W Qualifiers campaign on Friday with a hard-fought 2–1 defeat to Aruba in Group E action at Compleho Deportivo Guillermo Prospero Trinidad.
The Sugar Girls struck first in the 36th minute when Phoenetia Browne produced a quality finish from the left side of the box to give St. Kitts and Nevis a 1–0 advantage.
Aruba, however, found a response just before halftime, equalizing in the 43rd minute through Tarianna Doornkamp.
The hosts completed their comeback in the second half, taking the lead in the 62nd minute when Genesis Hazel rose to head home the eventual match-winner.
St. Kitts and Nevis now shift their focus to the second match of their away double-header, traveling to face Cuba on Tuesday in another important Group E contest. Aruba will resume their qualifiers campaign during the March international window.
