Basseterre, St. Kitts- Friday 26th April 2013 continues the era of our FIFA referees will be on show at the regional level. The 2013 CFU Club Champions’ Cup is the 15th edition of CFU Club Championship and is an annual football competition for top clubs from Caribbean Football Union.
The First round of the competition sees eight teams are divided into two groups of four teams each. Top team from each group qualifies directly to the 2013-14 Champions League. Group runners-up qualify to playoff round to determine third entrant to the 2013-14 Champions League.
Local referees Kimbell Ward and Graeme Brown are amongst regional referees and assistants appointed to officiate at the championships. Ward, fresh off an appointment at the Dallas Cup in the United States is one of the newest members of the St. Kitts-Nevis Referees Department to be appointed to the FIFA Referee’s List.
Brown is one of the more popular names in the regional refereeing community. His outstanding performances during recent competitions have earned him the right to be appointed to games of high calibre including the CFU Caribbean Cup where he officiated the final championship games. Brown also assisted in the championship match at the U-17 World Cup Qualifiers.
