FINAL SCORE

CAYON 6 – 5 VILLAGE

Coach of the Cayon team George “Yellow man” Isaac spoke highly of his team’s performance and their ability to hold off Village despite playing with 10 men in the last few minutes of the match. “It was overbearing (failing to beat) Village, and those guys really fought well and congratulations to us again.” Coach Isaac said. “We just got to continue do what we got to do, stay focus and do the right thing and we will be alright,” he added, speaking of the finals they will be playing against Conaree on Sunday.

Stephen Clarke, one of the assistant coaches of Village Superstars, said the team did not capitalize on the numerous opportunities they created in the first half. He noted that the loss however, will not negatively impact the team as it continues in the Premier League. “In the first half, we scored early and we created numerous opportunities and we didn’t put them away. They got a goal going into the halftime, that was momentum for them and we actually didn’t really recover from there,” Coach Clarke said. “I don’t think (the loss) will affect the team. If anything, it will give us more motivation. The players actually wanted to win every single cup there is this season. So the fact that we didn’t win the FA Cup it will give us extra motivation to win the (Premier League),” Coach Clarke said.

Earlier on Thursday evening, in semifinals # 1 Conaree F.C. defeated Newtown United 3-2.
