FIFA President Congratulates S L Horsford St. Pauls for winning Premier League Championship.
Basseterre, St. Kitts, 11th August 2015 – The head of the Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), President Joseph Sepp Blatter, has sent a congratulatory message to members of the S. L. Horsford St. Paul’s United Football Club in recognition of their victory in the National Bank Premier League.
The letter was sent to the president of the St. Kitts and Nevis Football Association (SKNFA) from FIFA headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland.
President Blatter wrote, “A national team victory is a wonderful occasion and an opportunity to draw satisfaction from a job well done. Please pass on my own personal congratulations, along with those of the whole football family, to St. Paul’s on their exceptional performance.”
Blatter described the achievement of St. Paul’s United as a “true team victory”, as he paid tribute to the players, the coach, the technical and medical teams, as well as football fans in St. Kitts and Nevis. The FIFA president commented, also, on the importance of football, indicating that it plays an important role in the development of individuals.
He wrote, “I am convinced that everyone, and in particular our young people of today, can benefit from playing football on both a social and personal level. That is why I urge them all in St. Paul’s to continue their work, leading the way on this path of success.”
SKNFA President Anthony Johnson said that getting this type of recognition from FIFA’s president was important. “I think it is a significant letter in that our football tournament and particularly the Premier League is being recognized by FIFA,” said Johnson, adding, “and the exploits of S. L. Horsford St. Paul’s United FC likewise is being recognized by the head of the world’s governing body.”
Johnson continued, “We want to thank President Blatter for his interest in the development of football here in St. Kitts and Nevis, and again to congratulate S. L. Horsford St. Paul’s United for their tremendous victory in the National Bank Premier League just concluded.”
