Harris Paint St. Peters Captures Easter Cup Title
Basseterre, St. Kitts- The weekend of the celebration of the resurrection of Christ has brought sheer joy to the players, supporters, management and staff of the St. Peters football club. On Saturday 19th April four teams entered Warner Park Stadium with one goal but with the knowledge that only two would return on Sunday with a chance at bringing home the gold.
In the first match of the evening, Harris Paint St. Peters faced off against Island Auto Kactus Conaree FC and within the first ten minutes managed to score their first goal compliments Kirkland Harris. At halftime, the game remained one nil and it was that scoreline that carried through to the ninetieth minute. St. Peters now found themselves in a position to capture their first Easter Cup title and would have to wait two hours for their competitors to be names.
In the second match of the evening, Rams Village Superstars and S L Horsford St. Pauls competed for a spot in the finals. Village drew first blood in the ninth minute thanks to Stephen Clarke and at the beginning of the second half Kimaree Rogers sent the Village supporters into uproar with his goal. In the seventy-third minute, Joash Leader managed to slot one past Village’s goalkeeper but it was too little too late. St. Peters and Village chose themselves to compete for the championship.
Both teams came back the following day ready and willing to trump each other in fierce but fair battle. The first goal did not come until the second half with twenty minutes left in the game. Kyrhon Phillip was the first to beat the goalkeeper and secure one goal for his team. With three minutes to spare in the game, his teammate Kirkland Harris would seal the deal and secure for Harris Paint St. Peters their first ever SKNFA Easter Cup Championship. Conaree were successful in defeating St. Pauls leaving the positions as follows:
Final Position
1st Harris Paint St. Peters
2nd Rams Village Superstars
3rd Island Auto Kactus Conaree FC
4th S.L. Horsford St. Pauls United
Congratulations to the Harris Paint St. Peters from the management and staff of the SKNFA.
