HONDA NEWTOWN UNITED ENDS ROUND ONE IN DOMINANT FASHION

Basseterre, St. Kitts — Honda Newtown United closed out the opening round of the 2026 Elvis Star Browne Women’s League in emphatic style on Sunday July 26, producing the most dominant performance of the season with a 22-0 victory over S L Horsford’s St. Paul’s United to underline its championship ambitions. The match was played at the National Bank Group Technical Center.

Christi-Anne Mills led the scoring spree with an incredible 11 goals, while Sharema Blake added five. Takia Carty scored three times, Omeara Delaney also recorded a hat-trick, Kymira Browne got on the scoresheet, and St. Paul’s conceded an own goal.

Speaking after the match, Mills said the team was determined to eclipse a previous high-scoring performance by their rivals MFCR Old Road United Lady Jets against the Sparks. “As you know, one of our rivals had scored a big sum of goals on them before. So, we did our best to try and outnumber them and share it around as much as possible,” she said.

Mills also said the squad is highly motivated to reclaim the league title this season after falling short last year. “I’d just say that we really want it back. We really want that title back. (We are) trying not to be comfortable and trying to bring the championship back where it belongs.”

Asked how the team intends to remain focused despite its commanding position, Mills credited the team’s commitment and coaching staff. “Just continue coming out to training and keep doing what we’re doing. Trust in the process and trust in the staff,” she said.

On Saturday July 25, MFCR Old Road United Lady Jets record a convincing 4-0 victory over Hector and Associates Hotspring Bath United at the National Bank Group Technical Center.

Leranja Wilkinson continued her outstanding goalscoring form with a hat-trick, finding the net in the 10th, 70th and 79th minutes. Kewandra McCall added the other goal in the 48th minute to seal the victory for the Lady Jets.

The scheduled fixture between Mapau Cayon Rockettes and Baley Construction Security Forces United did not take place after Security Forces United forfeited the match.

The weekend’s results brought the opening round of the 2026 Elvis Star Browne Women’s League to a close, with teams now turning their attention to the second half of the season as the race for the championship continues.
