8th August, 2012

The St. Kitts Nevis Football Association is pleased to announce the appointment of Jeffery “Pedro” Hazel to the position of Head Coach of the Men’s Senior Team effective 1st August 2012. Mr. Hazel will replace former National Head Coach Clinton Percival who had led the team for the past two years including the 2014 FIFA World Cup Qualifying Campaign that saw St. Kitts and Nevis eliminated in the first round.
Mr. Hazel, a former Washington Archibald High School teacher began his coaching career in 1997. After much success at the high school level, Hazel is now in his third season as Head coach of his hometown team the St. Thomas-Trinity Strikers Football Club. Quickly putting his mark on the program, the team was able to improve its standings in the SKNFA Premier Division while playing a much more difficult schedule.
Hazel was the most recent Head Coach for the National Futsal Team for the 2012 CONCACAF Finals in Guatemala and Under 23 Men’s Olympic Team which was able to defeat St. Lucia, Antigua and Barbuda and Caribbean powerhouses Haiti and Trinidad and Tobago in 2011. The current Deputy Director of Sports, Hazel has obtained several coaching licenses including a German FA “A”, UEFA B and a SKNFA D as well as SKNFA Instructor’s badge. Mr. Hazel brings lots of experience to what is expected to be a very young National Team as the SKNFA begins to build its programme for Russia 2018.
Mr. Hazel is expected to finalize his full coaching staff shortly as the team is set to begin preparation for the 2012 Caribbean Cup Tournament in early October. Mr. Hazel will be greatly assisted with his preparation of the National Team by Mr. Bobby Howe, a very experienced coach who has held several important positions within the U.S. Soccer Federation, including Director of Coaching Education and Men’s U-20 National Team Head Coach. Mr. Howe is expected to arrive in St. Kitts and Nevis around the middle of September.

The St. Kitts Nevis Football Association takes this opportunity to congratulate Mr. Hazel on his recent appointment to Head Coach of the National Senior Team.
