Keith ‘Kayamba’ Gumbs scores as Swirijaya wins

Home team Swirijaya FC made no mistake this time and notched up an important home win over 7th place Persema (3-0) on Saturday March 13. Before the sound of the start whistle could die, Keith Gumbs registered his 10th goal for the season and gave his team and early lead.

In their previous match Swirijaya scored early as well but went on to lose that game. This time around they made no mistake as Obiora Richad the third striker in the line up doubled the score in the 30th minute.

Four minutes before the break Swirijaya was able to get to a position of comfort as Arif Suyono scored after surging up the field from his usual defensive position.

The victory pushed Swirijaya to 37 points but did not change their fifth place in the 18 team table. However they narrowed the gap between themselves and the 4th place team (Persib) now on 39 points.

On an individual level Kayamba Gumbs’ goal helped to keep him on the list of the ten top scorers in the league. He has ten from 23 games while the leading scorer has 15.

Swirijaya’s next game is on Saturday March 20 when the host the juggernauts of the League – Arema, the current leader on 48 points.
