ST. KITTS AND NEVIS SUCCESSFULLY HOSTS CONCACAF FRIENDLY SERIES GROUP B

St. Kitts and Nevis recently concluded its hosting duties for the Concacaf Friendly Series Group B, welcoming regional opponents for two action-packed rounds of international football at the National Bank Group Technical Center. The event provided valuable competitive exposure for the home team—nicknamed the Sugar Boyz—as they continue building toward future Concacaf competition.

In their opening fixtures, the Sugar Boyz collected a draw in their first outing before falling in their second match, wrapping up the two-match window with a draw and a loss. Their final match of the period came on Tuesday, November 18, when St. Kitts and Nevis suffered a 6–2 defeat to Belize. Despite the scoreline, the team showed flashes of attacking promise and gained critical experience against a well-organized Belize side.

Assistant Coach Jamal Jeffers highlighted the educational value of the fixtures, noting that the exposure to different playing styles and competitive environments will serve the squad well as they prepare for the remaining Group B matches scheduled for the FIFA International Window in March 2026. According to Jeffers, the lessons learned during the home series will be vital in strengthening the team’s tactical discipline and overall cohesion. “We just have to go back up in the locker room now, we have to talk to each other. We have to pin down those mistakes that we made in the game. Like I said, the game was there for us to at least control, but we didn’t take control of the game,” he said.

Belize’s coach, Patrick Marin, praised his team’s performance, stating that the victory provides an encouraging platform for their continued participation in the competition. The win allows Belize to carry forward positive momentum as the series progresses. “We have a mixture of players that are very talented; 95% is Belizean-based. We will just continue to work with them and we will see if we can put a year or two year program just for the senior men’s team, for them to have more friendlies and for them to be exposed more to international competitions,” Marin said.

In previous results: The Sugar Boyz opened the series with a 0-0 draw against Sint Maarten at the NBG Technical Center on Wednesday, November 13. Both sides created several promising opportunities, but neither managed to convert, resulting in a share of the points in the inaugural edition of the friendly competition. In Wednesday’s earlier matchup, French St. Martin dramatically began their campaign, coming from behind to secure a gritty 2-1 win over Dominica. After conceding early in the second half, the French side responded with determination and attacking urgency, overturning the deficit to claim all three points. It was an encouraging start for a squad eager to make an impact in this inaugural series. Over the weekend, St. Maarten defeated Dominica 3-2, while Belize earned a win in their debut, edging St. Martin 1-0.

Hosting duties were executed smoothly by the St. Kitts and Nevis Football Association (SKNFA), which ensured that matchday operations, facilities, and organizational logistics met Concacaf standards. The National Bank Group Technical Center once again proved itself a reliable venue for regional football, offering a professional environment for both players and fans.

With Group B action set to resume in March 2026, the Sugar Boyz will now shift their focus to preparation and improvement, eager to capitalize on the foundation built during their home fixtures. The Concacaf Friendly Series continues to serve as an important developmental platform for teams across the region, and St. Kitts and Nevis remains committed to playing an active role in that growth.
