Mapau Cayon Rockets Women Capture Historic 2025 Elvis Star Browne Women’s League Title

Basseterre, St. Kitts–It was a historic night in women’s football as the Mapau Cayon Rockets Women clinched the 2025 Elvis Star Browne Women’s League title, edging MFCR Old Road United Lady Jets 1–0 in a thrilling final at the National Bank Group Technical Centre on Saturday, November 1. Jasonna Williams proved to be the hero for Cayon, scoring the decisive goal in the 29th minute to deliver the club’s first-ever Women’s League title.

The triumph capped off a remarkable treble for the Mapau Cayon Rockets, who had already captured the inaugural St. Kitts Women’s Cup and the Federal Cup earlier in the season. Williams’ outstanding performance earned her the Finals MVP Award.

Following the trophy presentation, head coach Tyrone O’loughlin praised his players for their unity, determination, and hard work throughout the season. “I’m out of words right now but as I said, I gave this championship to these players. They fight from beginning to end; starting from June with the seven-a-side competition, we won the knockout and we move on to the national championship,” he said.

Assistant coach Valentine Anthony also commended the team’s discipline and leadership. “Most of our senior players stepped up…and that’s what really contributed to our victory tonight,” he said. For Finals MVP Jasonna Williams, the win represented more than just personal achievement. “It would not have been possible without my team. It’s a team effort,” she said. “It’s the best season yet. We came from nothing to something. Right now I am still shocked and still grateful at the same time,” she added.

Cayon’s success continued with additional accolades, as Tyrone O’loughlin was named Coach of the Year and goalkeeper Craivecia Sutton claimed the Golden Glove Award. Sutton reflected on the personal significance of the honor. “At first it was really, really hard because I wasn’t training and when I got back on the field, the coach motivated me….this season I came back out and said this Golden Glove must be for me,” she said. “We worked very hard for this championship and we came out and won it,” she said.

Meanwhile, MFCR Old Road United Lady Jets also celebrated individual recognition, with Tarvia Phillip earning both the League MVP and Golden Boot after an exceptional season in which she scored 41 goals. Despite the individual honors, the final defeat added a bittersweet note to their otherwise unbeaten campaign.

Saturday’s final brought the curtain down on another thrilling Elvis Star Browne Women’s League season — one defined by emerging talent, fierce competition, and historic achievement for women’s football in St. Kitts and Nevis.
