OLD ROAD BACK TO WINNING WAYS, CONAREE SNATCH BACK TO BACK WINS
MFCR Old Road United Jets are back to winning ways when they edged Hobson Enterprises Garden Hotspurs 1-0 on Saturday at the Verchilds playing field in the SKNFA Premier League. The goal was scored by Kaylon Liburd in the 8th min. After the match Coach Alexis Morris of Old Road, said it was good for this team to get a win in Verchilds, something they had not done since the start of the league. “I said to the guys, we played two games before (in Verchilds), we drew both of them and we didn’t score at all,” he said. “This is one we really needed.”
Assistant Coach of Spurs Rohan Brown bemoaned the fact they were unable to create many chances or even score a goal. “I think the guys got frustrated…and weren’t able to get it together,” he said.
In the earlier match also at Verchilds, SOL IAS Conaree FC made it back-to-back wins when they defeated Jones Group Sandy Point 2-0. Javern Matthew converted a penalty in the 15th min and Errol O’Loughlin made it two in the 70th min. Coach Al Richards said it was a good performance from his team. “We need more goals. Unfortunately, we didn’t get the goals we wanted but we got the win,” he said.
Assistant Coach of Sandy Point Kenny Douglas, while noting they will have to go over some things in training, praised his players for finishing the game with 11 players, as in recent times, they have had players sent off with red cards. “We have been working on that too…. we told them we have to have 11 men on the field and we did that today. I am very happy,” Douglas said.
