S.P.D United one win away from Premier Division; St. Thomas Trinity Strikers safe for another year.

The final stage of the Division I battle has begun and the odds are in favour of S.P.D United. Lastnight’s game played between S.P.D and St. Peters Juniours now takes S.P.D to three(3) points. It must be mentioned that of the eighteen(18) teams in Division I, S.P.D is the only team that has not lost a single game this season.

By the closing minutes of the first half, S.P.D United had already scored two goals and were well on their way to victory. Seventeen(17) minutes into the second half, Denroy Matthew sealed the deal.

S.P.D United are now one game away from Premier Division promotion. The next game for the Division I finals is Saturday 26th May at the Warner Park Stadium.

In Premier news, St. Thomas Trinity Strikers has overcome Cayon in the relegation battle and are now safe for at least another year. Cayon, who has only been in the Premier Division for one season must suffer the consequences of their overall performance in this year’s league and will join Mantab in Division I.

Lastnight, St. Thomas Trinity Strikers came up against Harris Paint St. Peters and it was evident that they would not be going down without a fight. One(1) minute before the end of the first half, Dornel Bernier scored the first goal and Strikers were now in control of their destiny but the fight would not be over for another forty-five(45) minutes.
Th game went on for another twenty-five(25) minutes before another goal could be scored. Dornel once again placed the ball into the back of the net. With fifteen minutes remaining, all Strikers had to do was prevent St. Peters from scoring and their task would be complete.

Five minutes after Dornel’s goal Kyhron Phillip scored for St. Peters and there seemed to be a big comeback forming in St. Peter’s favour. Another attempt by was made by St. Peter’s but the fat lady had sung and Strikers would remain a “Premier team”.
