SHOCKS AND SURPRISES IN PREMIER LEAGUE WEEK THREE

Match week three of the 2025 National Bank Group of Companies (NBGC) Premier League at Warner Park was filled with unexpected results and thrilling moments. The standout shock of the weekend saw defending champions S L Horsfords St. Paul’s United fall to Jones Group Sandy Point in a gripping 3-2 defeat on Saturday, March 8.

Goal scorers for St. Paul’s:

• Kalonji Clarke (penalty) — 18th minute

• Akimbah Lawrence — 68th minute

Goal scorers for Sandy Point:

• Elzandhai Warner (penalty) — 10th minute

• Deacon Liddie — 46th minute

• T’ondre Rouse — 69th minute

Sandy Point’s Assistant Coach, Lydia Liburd, praised her team’s focus and execution. “I would say teamwork, communication and working together was really our strongest point tonight,” she said. “We go back to the drawing board. We look at what we did right; we try to do more of that. And whatever we did not do so well, we try to build on, especially those crosses; playing and defending crosses,” she added.

Another highly anticipated clash of the weekend was the showdown between Azul Cayon Rockets and Rams Village Superstars. Cayon secured a narrow 1-0 victory over the West Basseterre team, thanks to Devontay Carty’s crucial goal in the 48th minute.

Cayon’s Coach, Anthony ‘Nets’ Isaac, highlighted the significance of the win. “Our first set of games is mostly the elite teams. So (its important) we set out to go get all three points from these teams and then the lesser team; the teams that are newly promoted, we have to even work hard to get those three points going forward,” Isaac said.

Village Superstars’ Coach, George ‘Yellowman’ Isaac, emphasized the need for his team to refocus and bounce back from the defeat. “Nothing went wrong, but we just lacked concentration and focus on the task at the moment,” Isaac said. “We have to create the chances and when we create the chances, we have to make sure take them, or they will come back and haunt us,” the coach added.
