SKN falls short of qualifying for Final Round of Caribbean Cup
Port-au-Prince, Haiti- St. Kitts Nevis Senior Men’s National team failed to advance to the finals of the CFU Men’s Caribbean Cup Finals in Jamaica. A great show of willpower and strength allowed the Sugar Boys to prevent hosts Haiti from scoring but could not score to propel the team to the next round.
After beating French Guiana, SKN rose to three points giving them a fair shot of qualifying. French Guiana, earlier on the final day defeated Barbados two goals to nil putting them on four points with a goal average higher than SKN’s. The firswt half of our game was a tough one, we managed to keep Haiti at bay as we protected our net.
In the second half we remained determined to prevent Haiti from scoring, but could not capitalize on chances to reign victorious. The game ended scoreless and although we amassed a total of four points just as French Guiana did, we fell short on goal average and had to say goodbye to Jamaica.
The SKNFA wishes to take the time out to say a heartfelt thank you to all the players, management and staff for an excellent job in representing not only the association, but the country. We also wish to say a special thank you to our fans that supported the boys each day with such positive mindsets. We truly do appreciate you. We look forward to a great 2014/2015 season with you.
