SKNANB Premier League Opening Brought Great Announcements For the New Season

Basseterre, St. Kitts-SKNA National Bank Premier League Official Opening Ceremony was held prior to the start of the SKNFA’s Premier football league and President’s Cup. President Anthony Johnson gave brief remarks at the ceremony where he expressed his gratitude to National Bank. “At the outset I would wish to thank the SKNA National Bank for agreeing to partner with the SKNFA in becoming the title sponsor of our premier league” From extremely humble beginnings The SKNA National Bank has grown to become the largest and most successful indigenous commercial bank in the entire OECS” Johnson remarked to those in attendance.

Two days prior to the start of the league, SKNANB also sponsored $20 000 to the youth football competition run by the Department of Sports.

Johnson went on to remind supporters of SKNANB’s support a few years prior, back in 2008 when they willingly sponsored the U-13 competition. “It is against that background that this evening I am extremely pleased to announce that the SKNA National has agreed to sponsor the 2014-2015 Premier League in the sum of EC $100,000”. The president then went on to announce a few other partners who agreed to take part in this year’s league. “In the same context I wish to announce that we have made agreements in principle with ZBC and Digicel to become official partners of the SKNFA. ZIZ Radio and Television will become the official Broadcast Partner of the National Bank Premier League while Digicel will become the official Telecommunications Partner of the National Bank Premier League”.

President Johnson thanked the Ministry and Department of Sports and the Government of StKitts and Nevis for its continuing to partner with us in the provision of sporting facilities for hosting of our competitive games. For the first time,this season fans can look forward to a live premier league game of the week on ZIZ Television with in-studio panelists and pre game and half time show.

Prize monies for the 2014 -2015 National Bank Premier league were raised to EC$15,000 from $10,000.

Johnson closed his speech by urging the clubs to “play the 2014 -2015 National Bank Premier League in passionate ,spirited and fiercely competitive manner but at the same in an extremely disciplined and fair manner”.
