SKNFA and Nevis Island Administration Launch Pioneering FIFA Football for Schools Program

In a landmark event at the Nevis Emergency Operation Center Conference Room, the SKNFA, in partnership with the Nevis Island Administration (NIA), proudly launched the FIFA Football for Schools (F4S) program. This ceremony also marked the commencement of the Capacity Building Workshop, signaling the official start of this transformative initiative.
The FIFA Football for Schools program, developed in collaboration with UNESCO, aims to harness the global appeal of football to enhance the education, development, and empowerment of approximately 700 million children worldwide. By integrating football activities into the educational system and engaging with key stakeholders, the program strives to make the sport more accessible to boys and girls globally, while promoting essential life skills and contributing to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
During the launch, Fatimata Sow Sidibe, Director of the Football for Schools Program, provided an insightful overview of the program’s objectives and its potential impact on our schools. Antonio Buenano, Manager of the program, delved deeper into the philosophy of the initiative, introducing the attendees to the Football for Schools Application and Website, which are central to the program’s implementation.
SKNFA President Atiba Harris expressed his gratitude to FIFA for enabling St. Kitts and Nevis’s participation in this significant program and thanked the Hon. Troy Liburd, Minister of Education on Nevis, for the NIA’s unwavering support, which was instrumental in securing our involvement.
Minister Liburd also conveyed his appreciation to FIFA and the SKNFA for spearheading this initiative, highlighting the NIA’s enthusiasm in partnering for such a pivotal program that promises substantial benefits for the youth of Nevis.
The event also kicked off a rigorous two-day capacity-building workshop for coaches, equipping them with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively implement and sustain the program in our schools.
This collaboration marks a major milestone in advancing sports and education in St. Kitts and Nevis, and it holds the promise of fostering a new generation of well-rounded, skilled individuals through the power of football.
