SKNFA honours Mr. Bernel Grant

Mr. Bernel “Babou” Grant is a resident of Cayon. He started playing the game of football at the age of 5 years old.
Mr. Bernel “Babou” Grant involvement in football was not just as a player, he also made his contribution to the sport in the areas of coaching and refereeing. In addition, he served in various management positions for his clubs. He was founder and organizer of a Junior League named Hot Sun League and also founder the Youth Uprising Football Club FC in 1990.
As a player, he played for several teams during his early years in the sport. These included teams such as:
- Blue Circles FC
- Texas FC
- Golden Eagles FC of Dieppe Bay
Later on in his playing career he played for teams such as:
- Together-Heads: one of the Rural Champions in the Cayon community league
- And Cayon in the SKNFA, then Second Division league
Mr. Grant migrated to the USVI where he continued his football career and played for a team of St. Kitts and Nevis nationals named Brazilia Football Club.
As a coach he coached several teams such as the Air and Seaport Authority, the Cayon FC and the Youth Uprising FC. The Youth Uprising FC was founded in 1990 and comprised players such as George “Yellowman Isaac and Tyrone Oloughlin who are actually the coaches for one of tonight’s finalist; the FLOW 4G Cayon Rockets Football Club.
Mr. Grant was also a referee in the St. Kitts Masonry East Rural League and the TDC Canon League.
