St Kitts-Nevis Begins the World Cup Quest

After a spectacular win in the first round of the Olympic Qualifying Tournament, St Kitts- Nevis will once again be on the world stage in the FIFA World Cup Qualifiers in September. The World Cup draw was held on Saturday 30 July in Brazil, the home of World Cup 2014.

St Kitts-Nevis which is part of the CONCACAF Federation has been place in Group D in the first round with Canada, Puerto Rico, and St Lucia. Matches for the CONCACAF Groups are scheduled to begin on Friday 2nd September. St Kitts Nevis will play their first game at home against Puerto Rico on the 2nd September.

The World Cup qualifying tournament will entail 824 matches over 880 days. Only 31 countries will advance to the World Cup with host Brazil. The World Cup is an opportunity for countries such as St Kitts-Nevis to improve their rankings within FIFA and to also give the players an opportunity to be exposed to a higher level of football.
