The St. Kitts Nevis Football Association (SKNFA) met with the National COVID-19 Task Force on Tuesday 9 February, 2021 in continuing discussions surrounding the commencement of its 2021 football season, which was scheduled to kick-off back on February 3, 2021. In light of the recent announcement from the Ministry of Sports, which allows for the hosting of inter-teams and inter-clubs competitions, exclusive of spectators, the meeting was convened to determine the number of persons that will be permitted inside the venues that are necessary for the organization of the matches.
The SKNFA also convened a meeting on Tuesday 9 February 2021 via zoom with its member clubs to update them on the ongoing discussions with the COVID-19 Task Force relating to the commencement of the 2021 leagues and the protocols that are expected to be put in place for all SKNFA leagues. The SKNFA was hopeful that an approval for the leagues to begin would have been given in time to kick-off the leagues this coming weekend. However, to date, the SKNFA has not received the approval from the COVID-19 Task Force.
The SKNFA remains committed to working closely with the National COVID-19 Task Force to ensure a safe return to football.
