Sugar Boys Earn Top Spot After First Match

Curacao-(Source: CFU.com)-St Kitts and Nevis scored big by defeating Anguilla 7-0 in the 2014 Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Men’s Under-20 Qualifiers yesterday at the Ergilio Hato Stadium in Curacao while the hosts were clipped 1-0 by the Cayman Islands.

Scoring for St Kitts and Nevis were Tijhaun Isaac in the 3rd and 62nd minute, Yusuf Saunders in the 12th, Vinceroy Nelson in the 23rd and 47th Carlos Bertie in the 61st and Tahir Hanley in the 77th.

The hosts played a keenly contested game against the Cayman Islands, however the Caymanians were able to separate themselves and take all three points on the stroke of half time with a goal from Martin Webb ending the game 1-0.

Games are scheduled to continue tomorrow Friday, August 1, when the Cayman Islands meets Anguilla at 7 p.m. and at 9 p.m. Curacao encounters St Kitts & Nevis.

The last double header will be played on Sunday, August 3 with the Cayman Islands facing Anguilla at 5 p.m. and Curacao encounters St Kitts & Nevis in the feature game at 7 p.m.

Four teams have already qualified from Groups 1, 2, 3, and 4 namely, Cuba, The Dominican Republic, Haiti and Aruba respectively and the Final Round is scheduled to be hosted by Trinidad & Tobago from 10-19 September, 2014.

St. Kitts-Nevis must now take on Cayman Islands on 1st August and Curacao on 3rd August to secure a spot in the next round of competition. Cayman Island U20 defeated Curacao 1 goal to nil which puts them in second place for the time being.
