SUGAR BOYZ EARN HISTORIC WIN AGAINST SAN MARINO

The Sugar Boyz created history on Wednesday March 20th when they defeated European outfit San Marino 3-1 in the first of two international friendlies at the San Marino stadium. This result was historic because San Marino has not won a match in 20 years and international media made them heavy favorites to break their losing streak against St. Kitts and Nevis. But the Sugar Boyz changed that narrative thanks to goals from:

TYQUAN TERRELL. 31’

ANDRE BURLEY 45’

HARRY PANAYIOTOU 49’

The Boyz earned a welcome victory as they prepare for World Cup qualifiers later this year.  The match was broadcast live on the SKNFA Facebook page and TVC Channel 40. After the match, Coach Francisco Molina of St. Kitts and Nevis, expressed elation at the win. “They came a little stronger at us in the first 10 to 12 minutes…I think our formation in the beginning allowed them to do that but we adjusted.

The boys understood,” Molina said explaining the change in strategy. “That fixed a lot of the problems they were costing us.” He stressed that the players are focused on their match on Sunday and was not “over- celebrating.” He said: “We still have the second half on Sunday so we have to be prepared. We cannot be over-celebrating. We have to stay focused and that is what we are going to do,” Molina said.

The Sugar Boyz next play San Marino in the second friendly on Sunday at 3:45pm local time. Local viewers will be able to see the match live on the SKNFA Facebook page and TVC Channel 40 on The Cable’s Ultra TV.
