
TRIBUTE TO STANLEY FRANKS
The SKNFA regrets to announce the passing of Mr. Stanley Franks Jr. Mr. Franks served football in St. Kitts and Nevis in all the various facets; from player to administrator and match official. He started in football in 1952 to 1956 as the goalkeeper for the cup-winning Boys Brigade team in the second division.
From 1957 to 1966 he played for Garden Hotspurs, Blackpool, and Santos. In 1968 he was appointed manager of the St. Kitts team of the LIFA tournament and made several appearances as Manager thereafter.
He joined the Football Association in 1958 and was elected President in 1979. He has served as Secretary and treasurer and was always on the management committee up to 1994. He was elected the first secretary to the St. Kitts Referees Association and refereed local and regional matches from 1970 to 1985.
St. Kitts as an inaugural member of CFU in 1978 under the presidency of Mr. Karlweis Liburd and the Rt Hon Dr. Denzil Douglas was the sitting secretary who represented St. Kitts and Nevis at the meeting in French Guiana.
In 1989 Mr. Franks was appointed member of the Shell Cup Organising Committee and by 1990 was elected to the Management Committee of CFU. He served as a CFU Match Commissionary, a Member of the CONCACAF Disciplinary Commission, a Member of the CONCACAF Fair Play Commission, a Member of the CONCACAF Legal Commission, and a Member of the CONCACAF Administrative Panel from 1990 to 1995.
In 1992 he led St. Kitts and Nevis to the Membership of FIFA and CONCACAF. He held honorary membership of the St. Kitts-Nevis Football Association. The SKNFA deeply values Mr. Franks’ contribution to the development of football in St. Kitts and Nevis and conveys sincere condolences to his family and the wider football community. May his soul rest in peace.
