VILLAGE GALAXY SECURE FIRST WIN OF THE DIVISION 1 SEASON IN DRAMATIC FASHION

Unicomer/The Cable Village Galaxy staged a stunning comeback to earn their first win of the SKNFA Division 1 season, overcoming SKELEC Garden Hotspurs 2-1 in a thrilling encounter on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at Warner Park.

Trailing 1-0 for most of the match after a Shaquille Adams goal in the 37th minute, Village Galaxy refused to back down. The breakthrough came in the 81st minute when Davin Kelly struck the equalizer. With the match heading into its final moments, Kelly delivered again, scoring the winning goal in the fifth minute of stoppage time — the very last play of the game. Manager of Village Galaxy Akin Phillip, said after the match, the best is yet to come from his team. “We were nine points down. I mean, we started off slow, two losses to Newtown, Dieppe Bay. We had to get something out of this game,” he said. “We won. It’s about time we won a game because we’ve been losing since Premier (League)…We scored goals (tonight). That has been our problem–Goals and we’ve got a lot more goals in store. We’ve got a lot more wins in store… We’re going forward because we’ve got to catch up. We started off against some strong teams and trust me, we’re going to finish off strong. We’re going into the second round with a momentum. So, other teams got to watch out,” Phillip added.
